We bought this tricycle for our three-year-old and had the same problem as everyone else here has - the steering on the handlebars just doesn't stay put.We've had to adjust ours numeous times too.It gets used, but it just isn't all that safe.You HAVE to use a helmet with this guy because it's VERY easy to tip over, which is a huge deal for the age group for which this is intended.It's nice that they kept the classic styling but there's one thing they shouldn't have kept - how dastardly easy it is to get your foot under that back bar and scrape the top of your foot!I did that a zillion times as a kid and now, I'm doing it again with my child's bike!I HATE that!And, I have the scars to prove it.

All-in-all, if you like nostalgia, then by all means, avail yourself of this product.But quite frankly, I'd buy something else more study.I definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND anyone letting their child use this product unsupervised.It just tips over way too much.I get the willies each time I see this guy go down the driveway.Good thing I've been there each time this thing has tipped over.

I purchased these training wheels for my daughters 20" Schwinn bike.
The bolt that is supposed go thru the bike wheel to connect the training wheels together is too short.When I contacted BikepartsUSA where I purchased them thru Amazon.com, this is the email that I received..........................."I am sorry that the training wheels do not fit but it is not our fault that your bikes axel is not long enough.I am also sorry to inform you that the restocking fee will still be induced because that was not a fault of ours that the wheels did not fit.To return though you do not need a RA number anymore that is our old policy just ship the training wheels back to the address below".

I bought this jogging stoller after reading all of the reviews.I was looking for something that I could take on a prairie path and off on a trail near our home.I have to say that there are so many Jogging strollers out there, and some of them priced very high.I knew that I didn't want to spend a great deal, but yet I didn't want to sacrifice comfort either by buying a cheap jogger.So here is my experience with this stroller, as well as my opinion on whether it has lived up to my expectations.
First off, putting it together was very simple.It didn't take much time at all, but as I will mention later, I was missing a part which was a little frustrating.I have been using it every morning for a mile moderate paced walk, with the swivel wheel engaged.It's great!I live on a street that is curvy and this stoller allows me to push it with ease around all the curves and bends.Unbelievably easy to control.I have also used it on the prairie path which has a white sand/pebble surface.It's great for that, too.When I know I will be jogging a straight path, I lock the front wheel so that I can have better control of the jogger.It has thus far been great with the swivel and in locked position.I am very happy I went with a jogger that has both options.I have also used the stroller at the mall and have appreciated the easily accessible basket under the stoller.It's very spacious and has come in handy.In addition, the swivel wheel is even great at the mall, as it has allowed me to manuever through the ailes pretty well.At times, however the size of the rear wheels have gotten caught on racks, but for the most part I really prefer it over my regular stroller at the mall.I think I've even begun to use it more.

A few very important notes about the stroller.When I received it, it did not come with the front fender.They forgot to include it in the package.I had to phone Instep (apparently they are associated with Schwinn) and jump through a few hoops to get one sent out to me.However, once I got a hold of a competent representative, she was very helpful and promptly sent out the missing item.I think I received it within two days.So that was fast.Next, I want to say that I purchased a few accessories which have made me like the product even more.I purchased the extra padding for the seat.I believe it is a must have.My 15 month old was obviously much happier once I added the padding.It does make a big difference in comfort, and to help him sit up a little more.Many will complain that the seat is a little too far back, and I would agree a little.But adding the padding made it better.My son does not complain much and actually falls asleep in the stroller during our morning walks.But as I said before, he definately liked being seated in the stroller much more after I added the extra padding which I think is around $15.00.I also purchased the electronic gizmo that tracks speed, distance, time, etc.I really like that, too, because it helps me keep track of my morning walks and my progress.It's a nice perk if you think you'll use it.I must add that it is a little tricky to install, and the instructions that come with the model that Instep sells are written poorly. Finally, the only thing that bugs me about the stroller that is the reason I gave it a 4 is that after it's folded (which is very simple to do) it is a bit awkward to put it in my trunk after it has been folded because it doesn't lock in the folded position.I think that would be a nice added feature.I can't tell you how many times I've lifted the thing up into my trunk only to have it open and clunk me in the head or pinch my hand.I just haven't figured out an easy way to keep it folded and pick it up for transport.That's just my experience with it though.So anyway, I really think that it's a great price, a good product, and it does live up to my expectations.It's not a fancy one, but it certainly performs for the casual jogger and everyday user.I'm very pleased with my decision to go with this jogger.Good luck!

Adams Original Folder 24" Shifter 7sp Trail-A-Bike 24" 7 speed Pewter Review

Before buying this product I was concerned that 24" is rather large for a trail-a-bike. But it turned out to be excellent for a 7 to 8-year old child. The seat can be adjusted to accommodate younger or older kids. My son really enjoys the 7-speed which helps a lot when we climb a hill. In many ways he likes it better than his own bike because we can travel long distances in the nearby state park, and go much faster. Like all trail-a-bikes, there is a bit of wobbling when your child tilts it from one side to another. But in time both you and your child get better at it, and stop wobbling.

The bike is nicely built and is easy to assemble. We don't use the folder at all but it is good to know that you have the option. So, yes, this bike is fairly expensive. But I think it is definitely worth the price.

SARIS BONES THELMA 2 BIKE HITCH RACK Review

This is, without a doubt, the easiest bike rack to load/unload bikes.It is also more reasonably priced than the other brands. The only complaint I have is that it doesn't perfectly fit longer wheel-base bikes. We have Electra Townies, and they have a longer than normal wheel base because of the forward pedaling technology (which is awesome, by the way.) The bike shop guy put the rack's rear wheel 'wells' on backwards to accommodate the longer wheel base. That worked fine in my opinion, even though the rear wheels did not sit flat in the wells. We drove our bikes from MI to FL with no problems whatsoever. However, my husband was never comfortable with the wheels not fitting completely in the wells, so we got the Thule DoubleTrack last summer. It is more cumbersome to mount the bikes on the Thule rack, but they fit more secure in DH opinion. And the Thule has additional security features (for an additional cost, of course), so in that regard it's better. But all in all, I really miss the ease the Saris :( but I can 'visit' it down the street at my sister-in-law's house! If you have normal wheel-base bikes, this Saris is by far the easiest bike rack to use.

I bought these for my boy friend to use on his bike and he loves them. He told me this was the "best gift ever".
I read the other reviews before I purchased and then called Master Lock to check on the guarantee. They told me it covers up to $3000 in lost property but you need to have proof of purchase and a value of the lost item. They said they have had people try to scam them by getting Master Lock to pay for something they did not lock. I do not know how you would prove what you used the lock to secure?
Like the other reviewer said "locks only keep the honest people honest".
The quality of the lock is what I care about and this is high quality.

BOB Ibex Suspension Trailer Review

I've put on thousands of bicycle touring miles using both panniers and two versions of the BOB trailer. The BOB tracks very well and, with its low center of gravity, barely affects bike handling. I've used both the BOB Yak and the Ibex and found that the Ibex lives up to its' press reviews. I routinely tour with 50-60 pounds of gear and the BOB trailer handles the load yet allows me to feel like a cyclist rather than a Beast Of Burden (BOB). My one caveat is about the drysack. I don't like the location of the buckles while in use (they are underneath the bag). While it keeps gear dry, it really needs to be redesigned to allow easier access. Kickstand is a great addition along with bottle mounts for 4 bottles.

I love my stroller. I was at a bike shop and they had this model there only it was almost 100$ more than I was able to purchase on Amazon. The only thing that I wish was different was the top. I bought this because I was told by someone at the R. A. Allen Co. that this would work with their Bike Rack, model 440RR.It turns out that I was lied to or was given an answer by someone who did not know anything.It does NOT work with Allen's own bike rack!!!!!The cylinder is too thick (i.e. the diameter of the cylinder is too wide) to fit through the hitch insert hole.

This item will NOT work with Allen Bike Racks and company will not return your phone call or help you in any way!!!!!(I called them twice and left two messages with an Alex, who has never returned my phone call.)

I will never buy another item from the R. A. Allen Co. again.

We have had this for almost 2 years and have loved it! We purchased a lower name brand at a local store and had nothing but problems. However, this has been a complete joy. It is easy to attach, very safe, well made, durable, comfortable for a child to ride on, and a show-stopper on the streets! It is excellent for younger children (3-4 years old) who are not quite ready to ride a bike alone yet. But it also is fine for a child up to possibly 7 or 8 depending on their size. My son always feels safe right behind me and we even make up games as we go along riding together that give us both really good exercise. It is the perfect solution for single parents too who may not get a chance to get some exercise because of childcare issues. You can just bring your child with you now!

This is an awesome product and I recommend it to anyone!

We bought this trailer for touring with our tandem as well as for allowing us to transport larger items on our bike.We have used it for a four day tour and multiple errand rides around town.

The 28 version allows for use on bikes that have 700C wheels and fenders
Assembly took 15-30 minutes and the trailer came with proper instructions.

When riding you do not really notice the trailer all that much. If anything it makes the bike trail a little straighter. The hardest part of handling is the parking: Since it is near impossible to move the bike plus trailer backwards in a straight line you have to park the bike in such way that you can leave moving forward. Once you get used to that idea it is not that hard.

The biggest negative are the QR Levers. I have two QR levers, one for a standard bike and one for a tandem (145mm wide). It is hard to tighten them enough so that the rear wheel won't come loose. Twice I have had an issue with it: once on a regular bike where the rear wheel came out of the dropouts when I left from a stoplight (causing me to fall); the other time on our tandem, where the wheel remained in the dropout but pulled out of a straight line, causing the tire to rub against the fender.

Overall a useful trailer, but the QR lever could use a re-design

Burley SOLO ST Bicycle Trailer Review

Recently Burley and I came to the conclusion that aBurley Solo purchased
in 2007 was a "lemon". I am a reasonable person and understand that 1 out of
10,000 trailers can lack the quality of the other 9,999 perfect units.
Burley relies on its well qualified dealer network to take care of their
customers and instantly resolve these issues. However, I am currently living
in Poland and purchased the trailer via e-bay in Germany. This put me in
warranty limbo which was real hell for a long time Burley customer. Some of
you may remember their first products, the panniers, rain cape and gaiters,
yup, I had them all. I also purchased several de'lite trailers and the
trailer bike, all of which had excellent quality. When it was time for a new
trailer for my daughter, I naturally thought of Burley and even if it cost
nearly twice that of the US price, I purchased the solo without hesitation.
To be fair, the EU version has an additional roll bar and lights.

I had several complaints that finally resulted in a request for warranty
services. The customer service rep reviewed all the previous correspondence
since 2007 and sent a new (2009) trailer. Now that is customer service!

I found this to be a fairly well designed and made product.It is light weight enough to help in maximizing the load you can carry on your hitch.Good weld joints, solid steel main beam with aluminum racks and ramp make for a nice package.Also, its cheaper here on Amazon than buying it direct from their website, a nice plus, difference saves on the shipping cost.Although I have only one scooter, the dimensions allow me to carry the bike on the back behind my inbed camper, just have to remember that I am sticking out that far behind me now.

I am very good with tools. So this bike trailer was a breeze to put together, even though the directions where completely horrible. I took someone else's advice from a review and tried to put electrical tape around the rim to stop the spokes from puncturing the tube, well I only did the front tire and I ended up tearing the tube myself. As for the other tires and tubes traveled about 20 miles or so on rough terrain, dirt roads, and pavement and they have held up great. I wish they had a better angle or more back support for the kids. We just put a pillow behind the kids and they looked a lot more comfortable. As for the service I woke a guy up at night to find out shipping details and he was much obliged to help me. All in all for the money its great. If I had the money I would have bought a more expensive one. THANK-YOU Hope this helps anyone

Trimax VMAX6 Multi-Use Versa Cable Lock (6 ft long x 10mm cable) Review

I had the opposite experience than the other reviewer - I have had this lock for 5mos now and it is still working great. It is a bit bulky because the cable is thick and long, but I wrap it up tight and got myself a velcro zip-tie to keep it tightly wound so it will use up as little space as possible (about 3"x6" at the moment).

I have used the lock to lock up my bike, my helmet, my leathers, and other valuables that I keep on or around my motorcycle and it has always locked and unlocked with ease.

I use smaller cables now for my leathers, helmet, and saddlebags, but I still use this one to lock up my bike - and I trust that the lock will keep my bike safe.

I recommend it.

Adams Trail a Bike - Original Folder Review

I purchased the Adams Trail-a-Bike so my 3.5 year old son and I could go riding together.I researched all the available models and liked this design the best (I'm an engineer), but could not decide on which size would be best for my son (Compact or Original).So I called the company and got REAL person that actually understood the product to answer my questions.

But I was leary of purchasing the Trail-a-Bike without any customer reviews.So I decided to purchase a Wee-Ride Co-Pilot from a local store because I could return it if there were problems (such as described by other Amazon customers).Good thing.The Wee-Ride assembly prevented the U-joint hitch from moving.I tried loosening the bolt but my good tools only made the Allen head hexagonal flats into a circle (the bolt was made of mild steel).So I returned the bike and the other one in the store had the same tight u-joint problem. So I left without a bike.

Now Chritmas to fast approaching, so I ordered the Trail-a-Bike from Seasonal Outfitters through Amazon.It was shipped super quick and arrived a day early.

I wish I had not wasted two trips (purchase and return) in buying the Wee-Ride model.The Adams Trail-a-Bike is an excellent design and well built.The hitch/u-joint and the folding mechanism are what separate this trailer bike from the others.One quick connect clamp allows the bike to fold and to ajust the seat height.Even though it is easily loosened for folding, it is very secure because the natural pull by the lead bike tries to keep the bikes straight.

The hitch has different size inserts to securely grip the lead bike's seat post without allowing the clamp to crush the seat post and make it out-of-round.The hitch is cylindrical with a square post in the center.This makes a very stable connection but one that can easily slide apart when the hitch pin is removed.The connection on the Wee-Ride required a hammer to slide the hitch apart.I can easily make the connection with one hand while holding my bike from falling over.It works so good I would suggest buying a 2nd hitch Adams Trail-A-Bike Hitch With Shims, Replacementso that two bikes can be set up to pull the child's Trail-a-Bike.

I have pulled my son about 10 miles on 3 trips.He loves it.He is very stable and the Trail-a-Bike even goes around corners well.The u-joint even allows me to take sidewalk ramps to the street while making sharp turns without a problem.He is currently too small to peddle, but he can place his feet on the peddles when the seat is at the lowest position and I have turned the handle bar as low as possible.

I only have to remember to keep my speed down to the recommended level because I can't be sure that my son might see something interesting and decide to get off without telling me.That is why he has a helmet, knee and elbow pads.

Overall this was a good purchase.

The product is a good idea and is built very well. The construction is very beefy and welds are solid. There is one thing I would strongly caution individuals considering this product, however. It does not fit well on frames of bicycles that do not have a "standard" design. In other words, if the lower frame support from the pedals to the rear tire is not straight, you will have an issue. My bicycle has bends in the frame in that area. I tried to "make it work", but halfway through the ride with my dog, he darted to one side and ripped the back wheel out of the frame.

Adams Trail-A-Bike Baby Seat Review

I have the Adams Child Seat, and used it all last summer with my 1.5-2 year old daughter.

She likes it much better than being in a trailer.I put a bell on the little plastic handle so she can ring it.It works pretty much as expected.

It's a big advantage for riding on the road, as the 1-wheel trail-a-bike is much narrower and more maneuverable than a trailer.I needed another solution, as the over-rear-rack bike seat had my feet hitting hers on every pedal rotation.(Neither of my bikes has touring-type chainstay length)

The product would be better with a 5-point harness, rather than the three-point, I think.

When she falls asleep, she can slump pretty far to the side.No danger of falling out as the harness works pretty well, but it can make the bike tough to handle.Ditto if she's bored and whipping herself back and forth, or sees something and swings around.

I'm 5'11" and 190 lbs, and she's ~30 lbs.I'm an experienced rider but not super strong.On my light nimble road bike (56cm, traditional frame) the steering is a little tricky.Standing to pedal is especially tricky, better with practice of course.I would not recommend it for an unsure or much smaller/weaker rider.

On my mountain bike, which is heavier but also has the sloping top tube, the trail-a-bike attaches lower and is fundamentally more stable.The lower gears are very much appreciated uphill and take away a lot of the standing to pedal issues.

The seat on the back was definitely easier to handle.I would recommend that as a better, safer, and more manageable solution if your bike fit and the child seat allow it, or for as long as they allow it.Pulling the trail-a-bike is also a lot more work.

I've got the Trek brand trail-a-bike-style, and I think I needed a seatpost shim for this seat to fit properly.But any bike shop should have that.

I see that most of my comments would probably apply to hauling any child on a trail-a-bike, but I think a child old enough to hold themselves up would present less of a balance problem?I guess I'll find out in 18 months or so.

As a final note, I sound kind of negative but overall I think the product does about as well as could be expected.I just wanted something narrow and nimble so I could ride in the hills again, and a big floppy weight is a tough problem.

My daughter is 6 and we live in the country with no access to level ground to learn to ride a bike.This attachment has been great.She not only is learning to keep her balance, but she can also keep up with me.With training wheels, it was impossible.She loves it, and I love it.
It isn't hard to ride or handle.I thought that it would be hard for me to maintain my balance, but it isn't.I would recommend this item to anyone who has a child; who for whatever reason needs trainig wheels or is too young to keep up.

I ordered this rack to go with my Topeak baby seat and bicycle equipped with disc breaks.I got it today and now I find that it requires the bike to have "threaded seat-stay bosses."Apparently, there is no way to attach this rack to my bike.No mention of this is made in the product description and I'm not sure if there is an alternative.Had it been mentioned on the website, I could have avoided an RMA.Also, it took more than the 2-3 days for before the item was shipped.Very poor customer service.

I have no real gripe against the product.Although I wont' be able to use it, it looks well made and should be installed easily on the proper type of bike.

I bought this trailer to use with my electric bike.It can easily carry a couple of large rubbermaid storage tubs for carrying groceries or other purchases, so this combo is now my eco-friendly alternative to driving around town for short trips.Not having front or rear walls I initially thought was a drawback, but now find it very useful for carrying longer items (like my inflatable kayak)!

The trailer is very lightweight, yet strong.The Burley trailer hitch system is very well designed and easy to use.While the trailer can be disassembled, I find that some of the lock pins are a bit tight and really not worth the bother. Fortunately, the wheels are very fast/easy to remove, so that makes the trailer "flat enough" for my storage needs.

The floor of the trailer is the same "plastic-coated canvas-like" material as the side walls.While this keeps the weight down, you'll want to add a firmer floor if hauling anything with unusual edges that might dimple the stock floor.

Overall, very pleased with this trailer!

I purchased two Thule 982 Bicycle Frame Adapters for Thule 964 Revolver 4-Bike Hitch Mount Rack from the Amazon retailer, Rack Attack. PROS: 1) Because of the numerous different bicycle frame configurations, it will quickly become apparent to the strap/hitch carrier user that mounting the bicycles level is difficult. Attaching the Thule 982 Bicycle Frame Adapter ends to the bike's handle bar and seat stems will make this procedure much easier.For this application, the product seems well designed. CONS: 1) One of adapters I received from the Amazon retailer had rusted bolts while still inside the packaging! However, shortly after being exposed to the ouside environment during use, all the lock bolts on both adaptors quickly rusted. At the stated MSRP, stainless steel hardware would have been the fair and better choice. 2) The rubberized coating on the metal ends of the adaptors will ultimately tear or wear down due to use, UVA exposure, etc.. As a result, the exposed metal ends of the adaptors could damage the bike's finish. Take care to protect the rubberized coating during use and storage. In conclusion, it is my opinion that the Thule 982 Frame Adaptor is both a well designed and needed accessory for the strap/hitch carrier user.

Thule 997 Goal Post Hitch Mount Truck Adapter for Thule Canoe and Kayak Carriers Review

This rack is sturdy and easy to install. It carries my 16 ft canoe on my Explorer Sportrac with ease. My only gripe is that Thule uses a bolt with nut welded in the hole that fixes the hitch to the receiver. I prefer a plain hole so that I can put my locking mechanism in it. However, it is fairly easy to drill out the nut and use the lock instead.

In my opinion, this and other Thule products are well built and a good value.

Swagman Locking Hitch Pin (2-Inch Receiver) Review

This bike rack is great it is easy to use and holds the bike/bikes securly! The pin which holds it to the hitch screws in tightly which makes it not an easy remove when needed to remove. I pull a little trailer for trade shows so it takes time to change out! I did order the swagman locking pin recommended and it DOES NOT work.The pin is the same diameter! BUT doesn't have the threads which the screw has.This makes the pin to thick to go through.Not sure why they market the 2 together.They should try putting the 2 together before they recommend it.I am using a lock through the hole in the pin/screw to keep the rack safe.
The rack was easy for a "girl" to put together and even easier to lift the bike onto and secure it.BUT, if you have a woman's style bikeit fits a bit differently I had someone bend the "bike hold on hook" so that it would clamp down and not hit the chain gaurd.

I bought this from my dealer with my new Pilot Touring, but ended up returning it and getting the Thule roof mount system.I thought that this would allow you to load up two bikes and then swing them out of the way to access the hatch.It doesn't you must remove the bikes from the rack and - only after removing the bikes - it allows you to pivot the rack downwards towards the ground to access the hatch.It is actually easier - once the bikes are removed - to just pull it out of the hitch receiver and remove the rack than it is to pull the pin and pivot the whole thing down.

This might work OK for someone as an inexpensive solution, but don't expect you will be able to access your hatch with a loaded rack.It doesn't work the same way as the similar hitch mount Thule system (which is three times the price).

This is a great stroller for the money. The only problem with this stroller is that there is no padding for removing and washing in the seats. I used cushions from another jogging stroller. Also, the storage basket hangs low and drags on the ground if you put something in it. It is removable with buttons, so I just moved it a bit higher on the stroller and now it works great!! For the money spent, my kids love it and it fits through most doorways. I love the behindseat storage and the parent console. Good buy for parents wanting to use for fairs, carnivals, jogging or walks to the park.

Maybe 3.5 stars.We have used our new Tailwagon on mountain bike and paved bike trails daily for a week now.Our 6 month old pup jumped out at first (he was able to squeeze through the cover) so we bought one of those dual dog leads, a dog halter, and a D-ring.There are some loops to attach the dog lead inside the trailer.We attached the D-ring between the ring where you would normally attach a leash and the chest part of the pups halter.We adjusted the lead so he was able to move around the trailer a bit, turn around, sit, and lay down.He whined at first so we removed the outer cover which comes completely off, which helped a lot. The kick stand came off during the ride because the bottom clearance isn't adequately high enough for trail riding.The wheels are also not adequately large enough (for trail riding) either...my husband had to get off his bike and lift the trailer a few times.There are some trailers out there with a higher clearance which one might consider if you are biking on trails.The platform the dog sits (or stands) on has no cushion whatsoever.We haven't used the stroller part yet and might not ever but I got the Tailwagon just in case we would, plus I liked that it had a rain shield.After realizing that he hates it with the cover on, the rain shields don't matter anymore-for now anyway (however, the fact that you CAN completely remove it is a bonus).After a week of using it, for our purposes, I think I would buy the Rover or perhaps another brand instead.Overall though, it did the job and our pup was able to go with us rather than stay alone in a unfamiliar place while we were on vacation.I think it is also important to note that we have been satisfied Burley customers for many years.We used the heck out of a kid trailer (through 3 kids)...all said and done, there was no wear and tear and we were able to resell it for just a little less than what we originally paid.

This is one of those things to foil the casual thief.It does fine as a replacement for the usual non-locking hitch pin.It will not keep your bikes safe.The Allen Hitch Mount bike rack is three steel pieces that get bolted together into a fairly nice rack.A thief can remove at most two bolts (a smart thief removes only one bolt) and steal the bikes.You are left with the lower one or two steel pieces.

I'm going to use locktite on the bolts so they permantly seize.No one will ever unbolt my rack.Then the lock makes sense.

About Allen Bike Racks
In 1967, after a few years of working on the aerospace technology for the Apollo missions, Dick Allen was out of a job. Bought this to use on our camper hitch and it didn't fit.We have a weight distributing hitch and it's just a little thicker (still 2" but rounded edges) than a typical 2" hitch.The bikes also wouldn't have cleared the propane tanks on camper hitch while turning corners.Looked like a good idea, but think this probably wouldn't work for any camper-- only longer tongued towables like small boats or trailers, and then it'd probably be just as easy to put bikes inside trailer or boat.I was able to return it without a problem, so only lost shipping cost each way -around $20.Live and learn.

I agree with other review; plate that is suppose to secure bike to rack is for smaller framed bikes, which many bikes today are not smaller diameter bikes...wasted my money, ok for short hauls (5-10 miles), used it on one long haul and felt as if i needed to stop all the time and check it.had a similar bike rack that was excellent with one plate that secured all bikes instead of multiple plates and screws....very disappointed...would not recommend and should specify that it DOES NOT come with a hitch pin!!!!!!

There were no reviews on this product and the description left a lot to be desired (seriously folks...give us something to go on here) so I was a bit in the dark when ordering this product. Given the price at the time of purchase ($200) I'm not sure I would have ordered it again since it doesn't seem to offer more amenities than lesser priced comparables....on the other hand it has more than some that are twice the price of this one. However, since I don't own them I'm unable to provide a real review or side by side comparison. What I can say about this product is the following:

Good welds - this is made from steel, solid construction, good clean welds without burrs or other noticeable defects. I imagine the major limitation to this is the vinyl plastic and wheels rather than the actual frame which looks like it will last quite a long time.

Very easy to assemble - the entire product is easily assembled and was designed with convenience in mind.

Super easy storage - takes minutes to fold and put away for future use...a major consideration since space is a premium.

Safety Features Galore! - I'm very impressed by the smart safety features included throughout this product. The quality and additional safety features could be one of the reasons for the higher cost compared to other options. For example - there are "running bars" on the outside of both wheels...these are metal and made to protect the wheels from grabbing or getting tangled into anything. No need to worry about sticks or other accidental run-in's with minor objects since the wheels (and therefor occupant) is protected by the running bars.

The cabin also has a "roll bar" over the head plus the frame is well designed. While this certainly wouldn't protect against a major wreck or other problem it does provide an additional layer against minor problems.

The cover and case have safety reflectors everywhere - there are two reflectors on each wheel, two on the front, two on the back, a large reflective triangle on the back cover and two safety flags included in the set.

The weather proof cover fits easily over everything and the front can be rolled up to allow fresh air with a screen mesh. There is a small trunk and two easy clip seat-belts inside (this will hold two small children).

Overall, a well built, well designed product!

Now...what I didn't like or wish I had known in advance. This is called a "child and luggage" trailer for the bicycle. I originally was looking at the luggage carrier since I wanted a slightly larger than average trailer...that one has a solid bottom and pop-up sides. I thought this was basically the same thing (same dimension and same weight capacity) but apparently it is NOT!!!

This does not have a solid plastic bottom - only that flexible vinyl type bottom. It also does not have solid side walls - again, only the vinyle plastic. Admittedly, it makes this a lot more comfortable but I was VERY disappointed that he bottom and half walls were not solid plastic. However, the item is still very well made and I did want a cover (the other doesn't have a cover) so I've decided to keep it afterall. Just keep in mind they are not the same product whatsoever.

One other note - the dimensions are for the folded unit...unlike some other bike trailers, this does NOT include the tow handle part - only the actual carriage. It is a bit more boxy than others I've seen but appears a lot more comfortable and realistic for the rider. Decent head height, comfortable chair with a tiny trunk in the back, a place for feet and little net compartments for toys etc...again, nice design with attention to those little extras that matter.

Not the least expensive but a good solid purchase to be sure.Bottom line...

1. For folks wanting to use this as a stroller - it does not have the stroller option or higher price.
2. For those wanting a child carrier...It is a comfortable, safe ride for toddlers. Less aerodynamic but better head-room and a good recline make this an attractive child carrier. Holds two children in what appears to be a comfortable and relatively safe position. Good option.
3. Those of you considering this for your big spoiled pets...the lack of a solid base will make it less sturdy. It can be easily retrofitted but you can also buy a doggy carrier/trailer then search for a cover instead (although most don't have the roll bar which is a plus for my spoiled guys...also, unlike most kid carriers this is more boxy so will work for larger dogs - just not giant breeds). I'm going to retrofit this one as I like the ability to also use it for children.
4. Those of you considering this for transporting odds and ends (another consideration for me since I live near shopping and routinely walk) this will hold a considerable amount of groceries while keeping them dry. As we go green, my spouse and I take a tandem bike or walk to a local grocery store and this is the perfect solution for those days when we stock up on dog food or other supplies. Again, I wanted the cover with a solid floor but it's easy enough to modify for that purpose while still gaining the benefit of the cover and safety accessories.

A nice multi-purpose product that is well made!

Adams Backrest For Trail-A-Bike Review

This backrest is wonderful! I have had a difficult time building a workable biking system for my 6 year old son with autism. He is able to ride a bike, but unable to understand the rules of the road. The tag-a-long bike was a great solution, but that was only one of our problems.

Problem #2: Staying on the bike: This backrest and seatbelt keep him on when we hit a sudden bump while he is daydreaming or when he just wants to put his feet up and get pulled along. Also great for those reluctant school mornings! (otherwise he might just slide off the back!)

Problem #3: Maintaining balance for US!: My son WIGGLES! a lot! and I was scared of keeping our balance if he suddenly leaned to the side.
Solution: I bought an adult tricycle! I needed a bike anyway, so this solved this problem and helped with the next one...

Problem #4: How to bring my 2 year old along too!: Solution: ibert front mounted child seat. My daughter LOVES this seat and so do I. She leads our Trike Train!

Trailgator Bicycle Tow Bar Review

About six months ago, I was struggling with what to do about our family bike riding. My son was approaching the weight limit on the Co-Pilot taxi seat and I really wanted to get him his own bike, but knew that it would be a while until he could keep up with our neighborhood rides. I weighed the options of a tandem attachment like the WeeRide trailer, a regular tow behind trailer and the Trail Gator + bike. The WeeRide didn't seem like a good option because it is not very portable and only has one use and I have never really liked the idea of a tow behind trailer, plus my 3 year old son would soon outgrow that as well. So, I decided to go the Trail Gator + bike route.

I recently purchased the Trail Gator from Amazon and installed it on my son's Trek Jet 16 bike and I have to say that I am very impressed! I was a bit skeptical about this product given the wide array of reviews out there. It seems as though people either love it or hate it. Well, I absolutely love it. Installation was quick and easy (20 minutes or less) and once I started riding with my son, he did not want to stop. I actually had to him that Daddy was getting tired and he made me promise that we would go for another ride the next day.

After looking at various photos online, I was a bit concerned that the incline on the child's bike would be a struggle for a 3 year old to hang on and peddle, but it seems almost perfectly natural for my son. You can hardly tell that his front tire is suspended a few inches off the ground. I was also concerned after reading a few reviews that he would not be able to use his training wheels and the Trail Gator at the same time (he only started riding a few months ago and can't balance on his own yet). I had no problems whatsoever with his training wheels and turning and have since come to the conclusion that the insistence on removing training wheels is a ploy to get us to purchase the company's flip-up training wheels. Don't fall for this -- your child can still use their training wheels with the Trail Gator!

All in all, this is an excellent product that we will have fun with for years to come. Thanks to everyone for all the helpful reviews you posted! I would highly recommend this product to anyone in a similar situation!

We purchased a Burley bike trailer and made a homemade duct tape and tarp (I'm serious!) cover to save some money. That cover was a joke: it blew away in a strong wind and fell apart after a few month's use. On the other hand, the actual Burley cover fits snugly and protects our trailer from wind, sun, and rain. My husband and I just purchased new bikes (Scott - Sportsters) and we have a two year old daughter that we needed a trailer for.Every bike shop we visited stood behind the Burley brand.I have to admit I did not like the price tag, but after going home and doing my research I can totally see why the Bike shops all recommend the Burley D'Lite.It is very easy to assemble, very easy to tow and simple to collapse and store. It is made with quality material and has a sharp look to it. The seats inside are padded to absorb the shock of bumpy rides, the circulation was perfect (we saw my daughter's hair dance in the wind) and there is plenty of room in the back for a backpack, picnic lunch etc. Better yet my daughter loved it! She was so comfy that she fell asleep half way through our 12 mile ride. The D'lite can accommodate two children up to 100lbs, so we can still use it when baby #2 comes along.

What really sold us on the Burley over all the other brands was the resale value.We scoured eBay and Craiglist before buying a new one and found that the used Burleys were only slightly cheaper.I e-mailed one Craigslist seller only to find out she had several other interested buyers and I would have to be part of a bidding war.So we decided to purchase a new one, use it for a few years and get a good portion of our money back with resale.

Burley Nomad Bike Trailer Review

We've been using this trailer for over a year now.I pull it, my husband pulls it, and my 8 and 9 year olds pull it; it is lightweight and a dream to tow.My 9 year old can hitch it correctly by himself.We've had no wear issues or fabric ripping, and it is used at least twice a week.I feel comfortable with it even on narrow roads; it isn't that wide and it is stable, with a nice tall flag.My husband goes up and down curbs with it, and we've taken it on dirt roads (not single track mountain biking, but not just pavement either).It carries a considerable load; we easily get groceries for the week, or carry everything we need for a picnic play date at the park.It also folds up very small so we take it with us on vacation (along with our bicycles).We'll be adding the cargo rack soon so we can carry even more!

I was confused by the instructions and thought that I was missing pieces for this product because it did not slip right in the way the instructions implied it would and the list of items present included parts that were already assembled.I had to go to the Burley web sight for more clear instructions.Using this as a jogger I would say that the handle for the trailer is not as stable as I would like, it slips despite being as tightened as I can get it with my bare hands (I have the D'Lite Euro trailer).Also I centered the wheel as the instructions indicated and it still seems to pull to the left.I am also not a big fan of the design since I thought it would be better if I could use the trailer towing arm as one of the wheel braces, this is not the case.I am not an engineer so I can't say that this is even possible but it would be a whole lot more convenient.This is not a quick change over product, I thought I would be able to tow the trailer to a location add the wheel then stroll after using it once I would say this is not a realistic.

Burley Travoy Bike Commuter Trailer Review

This is a clever system for towing stuff behind your bike. It would be useful for the bike commuter, or those who shop by bike.This type of system is more common in Europe.
Some things you need to know that are not mentioned in the description.

The tires are pneumatic (blow up) like a bike tire.But much thicker and heavier than a bike tire.

The tires easily remove from the trailer and just as easily snap back on. Shown folded in the photos, the wheels are removed.

Axel width is 18 inches (45.5cm) without the wheels.With the wheels it is 22.5 inches across (56 cm).The wheels themselves are 12.5 (31.5 cm) inches in diameter.Depth of the bottom shelf is about 9.5 inches (24 cm).Height of back carrying portion is about 30 inches (76cm).Width of back section at widest point is about 16.5 inches (42cm).Height from floor to top folding section is 43 inches (109cm) .Carrying bag is22 inches (56cm)tall by 14 inches (35.5) wide by 8.5 (21.5cm) inches deep. Folded, with wheels removed, it is 18in wide by 22 longby 5.5 inches tall (at the bottom).

The trailer folds into thirds.The two top folds are accomplished by rotating a handle.The bottom fold (the bottom of the bike trailer) folds up by pulling on a wire cable that runs along the bottom of the trailer. This is very easy to do, my 11 year old can manage it by herself.Folding down the top portion makes it easier to pull the trailer around with you.
The whole trailer then fits into the carrying bag.The bag itself also fastens onto the trailer to use when you are hauling stuff.There a small knobs (called buttons in the manual)on the side of the trailer and corresponding tabs on the bag. There are four knobs (buttons) on each side of the trailer. The bag also has reflectors built in.It also comes with 2 straps that can be used to attach other stuff to the trailer.

The grey portion is a very thick flexible plastic.There are two reflectors on the bottom section of the trailer.

The hitch attaches with a 4mm hex key (which is included).Once you attach the hitch the trailer attaches to the bike by sliding a loop over a pin on the hitch.This is held in place with a rotating spring loaded latch.It is very easy to remove.From the manual "hitch is compatible with 25mm to 32mm seat posts.Use of this hitch with carbon fiber seat posts is not recommended"
The trailer has a kickstand but is not stable standing upright unloaded with the kickstand.

The wheels roll easily along gravel (next test is cobblestones, but that will have to wait). Hauling a trailer does make the bike less maneuverable (which is mentioned in the manual, but would seem like common sense).

Warrenty is 3 years for trailer and skin (I assume this is the plastic) and 5 years for bags and straps.Does not cover rental, competitive or commercial use.

The main issue I have with the trailer is that there is no way to lock it to your bike directly.Of course anyone with a wrench could remove the hitch and thus take away the whole thing, but it would be nice to have a loop on the hitch and the trailer that a lock could be attached to for quick trips into the store so that the trailer would not need be taken in.It would be possible, of course to thread a lock through the top portion and then to the bike or rack.I understand this is a design issue, as most bike seats can also be removed and the whole thing would then be easy to pull off.Still, some thought to this issue should be given by anyone who will use it in an urban area and plan to leave it for any amount of time.You will need some sort of cable or chain lock to secure it. I am not going to take stars off for this, since this is not really an issue with the trailer itself, but you should think about this when considering it.

I put the first part up right away as a couple of people asked me about the dimensions. Below is more about using it.

Yes, I bike.No, I would not call myself a cyclist.I can speak to using it as a trailer to fetch stuff from the store, which is the purpose to which I will put it.I can not speak to pulling for 50 miles, because I would not ride 50 miles in one day.

I took it out with a 40 lb bag of water softener salt on gravel and paved roads. Maximum weight is 60 lbs but that is more that I can handle.Corneringis harder, you can feel the torque and the minimum turning radius is slightly reduced but it is not unreasonable.Braking time of course is slightly longer, more momentum from the weight.It is not like you feel it pushing from the back though, more just like the bike itself is heavier.On a straight away I did not really feel any pull to one side or another, but of course it is harder to go up the hill pulling 40 plus pounds than without.That I did feel.It is a lot less of an impact than hauling one of the child trailers though, I guess because the axle is a lot smaller and the whole thing less heavy.

Someone who is a more intense rider will have to answer about pulling it over the long haul.

Before purchasing this seat, I had to carefuly do a deep research on the subject. I am a 6'2" guy, so, a was really concerned about having the seat hitting my knees. My neighbor has another model, which does not work at all for me, not even for him. He has to keep his legs kind of open in order to be able to ride the bike... Terrible!

Furtunately, I decided to go with the most expensive model. Sometimes the cheap become expenseive, isn't it? well... I did the right decision, instead of spending $48 dollars, I spent $89.00 on this safe-T-seat, and I cannot be happier.

The seat mechanism is really simple. It's just a little T-bar that you will be in contact with the bike. The seat plugs itself on this bar. The seat keeps in a perfect position. Even my long legs do not touch it when riding. I can ride my bike just like I was riding before the new passenger.

It took me less than 5 minutes to install the T-bar on my bike.

My daughter stays in a very comfortable position. By the way, she loved the new activity, and keeps asking me all the time for "MORE" when she sees the bike.

Well, if you want to have pleasure time and no headaches while in your bike, this is the seat you need to purchase.

CONS: The only thing I didn't like much about this product is that it only support kids up to 32 pouds. Well, nothing in the world is totally perfect! So there is no time to lose, I will ride my bike with my daughter as much as I can before she reachs her 38 pouds. :)Hope you enjoy my review.

Hi everyone... here I am again (Jan-08-2009) to give you an additional feedback about this product.

My daughter is now 42 pounds (4 years old), and 110cm tall - I am still riding the bike with her. Her legs now touch the bottom of the seat, giving her more support. Her heigth still does not bother me.

Since she is now havier than the suggested weight, I will no longer take her on the seat, I am thinking about one of those semi-bikes that we attach on the back. The good news is that my wife is pregnant, and my Safe-T seat is still like new after 3000 miles - I am positive I will soon enough use it with the new baby that is about to arrive.

Hollywood Racks HR135 Tow N' Go 3-Bike Hitch Mount Trailer Towing Rack (2-Inch Receiver)) Review

It is a very well-built unit and very solid. My only problem is that my motorhome has a hidden hitch and I not only had to buy an extended hitch bar for my receiver but I had to have the bike rack cut about 4 inches above the hitch and extended out away from the motorhome for clearance. The hitch works fine for me and for most applications a longer hitch bar would be all that is necessary for it to work as it should. On my receiver there is not enough room for the standard hitch bar to go through the bike rack and still connect to the receiver.

I purchased the 2008 Cougar about 2 weeks ago for use on my Cannodale mt bike for hauling my 15 month old daughter on some family/day rides.She loves it!This is a terrific product that is definitely on the high end of products in its class.Let me explain why we chose this model over a few others:
- Extremely padded sittigt area.My daughter is picky, so we wanted to give her the maximum comfort in her rides.She is a skirmy little girl, so this is really nice.
- Suspension system.While it doesnt sound like much, this makes the ride SOOOO much smoother.She falls asleep super fast now on a ride.Most other solutions dont have this so your child will feel it.
- UV protected plastic.Another big deal, especially down here in Texas.You need to protect the little ones skin!
- Its a transformer. Chariot sells virtually any type of conversion kit so we can add a stroller kit or jogging kit.I love to have that option so this is why we went this route.

I probably would have given this 5 stars if it for the price Chariot included at least the trailer hitch in the default package, but they do not.I think they do it to keep their product competitive to other high end trailer hitches.So make sure you buy one before you go out cycling!

I use this doggie trailer to tote my two cocker spaniels to the beach.They fit in pretty tightly, even though they are smaller than the average cocker.One weighs 20 lbs and the other 24 and they can lie side by side but there is no room between.They are able to get up and turn around and sometimes ride looking out in opposite directions. You will not be able to pull this in soft sand. You might be able to use it on hard sand but I have never tried it.It does add appreciable weight to your ride...you know it is back there. Of course, this is relative to the weight of your pet.If you buy this, put a towel under it when assembling so you do not damage the nylon cover on rough surfaces. This is very expensive but since it is designed for animals, it is what you need.I tried to adapt a child's bike trailer and found that it would not work, especially since it did not have a rigid floor.

WeeRide LTD Kangaroo Child Bike Seat Review

Back in Spring we got him a WeeRide LTD seat. This fits between the handlebars and my seat.(There is also a non-LTD version with less padding. Both versions are sold with the mounting bar included; the separately sold bar is only for a family that wants a second one, to be able to quickly move the seat from one bicycle to another.)

It works great. But there are a large number of caveats.

First, it does not fit every bicycle. The Amazon reviews make clear that some people had to return it for this reason.

Second, I am 5'4" and it just barely fits comfortably. Anyone smaller than me would probably have problems. I did not have to change how I pedaled, or where my knees where.

Third, the 5mm hex key it comes with is so poorly machined it does not work. Anyone ordering the seat should also buy a hex key set if they do not already own one.

Fourth, my leg length allows me to normally stop the bicycle without hopping off the seat, simply pointing one foot tiptoe to rest while stopped. Anyone used to hopping off the seat when stopped would obviously have to change habits.

Fifth, my fitness level and bicycles number of gears allow me to bicycle up even the steeper hills I would ride on without standing. I never had the habit of standing while pedaling up a hill. I have not tried standing while Smiley is in his seat, but from the Amazon reviews apparently this does not work.

Sixth, the harness system is odd. Smiley can twist out of a shoulder strap, as he did in the above picture when smelling roses at the Owen Rose Garden. I assume this is intentional. If, heaven forbid, I was to crash then having the toddler firmly stuck in the seat is probably not the best option. But a wiggly child who does not follow instruction would need a different bicycle seat.

Seventh, the child can grab the handlebars. Smiley does not try this while I hold them, but if I let go of one to adjust my MP3 player or blow my nose he sometimes does. Be alert for this potential source of swerving!

Eighth, the routes I might bicycle are all on streets and paths kept clean of gravel and debris. By using a bicycle seat instead of a trailer, I am betting that my likelihood of crashing my bicycle is less than a motorist's likelihood of hitting my trailer. If I lived near gravel roads or where autumn leaves sat damp and made slipping a danger, a trailer would be the better choice.

Ninth, there is no hole in the seat large enough to pass a cable lock through. Where I live I am not worried about the seat disappearing while the bicycle is locked in front of the library or a store. In other locations this might be an issue; the seat comes off quickly and easily but is very bulky to carry around while doing errands.

Tenth, pediatricians currently recommend that babies under a year of age not use any bicycle seat or trailer. Their brains still slosh around too much for that kind of vibration to be safe.

Croozer 535 Double Child Bicycle Trailer (Green/Grey/Black) Review

My wife wanted a trailer for her bike, so I looked at different offerings from Burley, Chariot, and Schwinn before stumbling across Croozer. I wasn't looking for the cheapest trailer I could find, but I was also hoping to keep things under $1,000.

Since I hadn't heard of Croozer before, I did some research online and tried to find one in a store before buying. That was probably the hardest part of the purchase -- many of the stores listed on Croozer's site (at least, the ones near me) didn't have a floor model to look at. Eventually, I found one that had the Croozer 525 Double Child Bicycle Trailer, and ended up liking it. So, I figured I'd go with the upgraded model to get the advertised five-point harness and a little more cargo space.

I ended up ordering from Amazon, and the trailer arrived unscathed. Putting the trailer together was reasonably easy, because I had the required tools. You'll need an allen wrench, Phillips screwdriver, and an 11mm wrench to put this together at minimum. Having a ratchet with a Torx bit, an 11mm socket, and an 11mm wrench helped tremendously. The instructions leave a lot to be desired, and have very grainy pictures, but fortunately, there's little "real" assembly -- you just put reflectors on the front bumper, and put the front bumper on the trailer. The wheels snap in with a pushbutton release in the center, the stroller arm goes in with a couple of pins, and everything else is basically pre-assembled. (But yes, the front bumper is a big enough pain that it warranted some griping)

What really surprised me was that the trailer itself was basically the same as the 525. Although Croozer lists the 535 as having a five-point harness and doesn't list that as a feature of the 525, their harnesses looked the same to me. The 535 has two arm / leg loops and a center strap which comprises a five-point safety system that actually snaps together as three pieces. The top of the straps have some nice padding on the shoulders and back, which I didn't see on some of the more expensive trailers from other brands.

The trailer arm has a rotating spring mechanism, which makes the trailer move fluidly with the bike, while at the same time, keeps the trailer upright if your bike isn't. Croozer uses an axle post with a pin-and-retainer mechanism to attach to your bike. If your rear wheel has a quick release, installing it takes about five minutes, tops. One thing I was especially happy about, was that Croozer includes two axle posts, so I was able to put one on my bike too, without spending more money.

The stroller wheel looks a bit cheap, but works well (note: if you do buy this, make sure the strap that holds the pin for the stroller wheel is under the bumper when you assemble it!). You don't have to remove the trailer arm to use this as a regular stroller (but you probably should, if you're planning to walk around town with it). As a stroller, this thing glides wherever you push it, and the rear brakes are super solid.

The jogging wheel is surprisingly secure, but since I'm not a jogger, I can't really say much about it beyond the build quality.

In terms of overall build quality, this looks and feels every bit as good as the more expensive trailers. In the research I did, a few people were calling the 535 a "Chinese (Chariot) Cougar 2". Having actually seen a Cougar 2, I can certainly see the comparisons. I wouldn't go as far as saying they're identical, but I don't think the Cougar 2's materials are nice enough to justify the price difference of several hundred dollars. In any case, I didn't find any part of the trailer that left me concerned about our child's safety (which was not the case with some of the InStep and Schwinn trailers I had looked at previously).

If you're not planning to go jogging, you may want to save some money and go with the 525. With the exception of the jogging wheel and a few 10cm (about 4") differences in width and height, the 525 and 535 are basically the same. One notable place where that difference may matter to you is the height of the stroller bar (the 535 bar is about 4" higher, making it much more comfortable for me to push at 6'1"). Despite being disappointed that this was so similar to the 525, I didn't regret the purchase at all, and would absolutely buy this again if I had it to do over.

I agree with the other reviewers regarding the excellent build quality of this "trailer bike."I was very skeptical about the quality, given the unbelievable price (compare to Trek etc.), but decided to give it a shot anyway.

Setup was pretty easy.The only problem was that the seatpost wouldn't go all the way into the frame, which was a must in order for my 4.5 yr old to ride.I needed to jam a scrap metal pipe into the frame's seat tube a couple times in order to knock loose some chunks of metal flashing that were preventing the seatpost from going all the way in.Once that was done though, everything was great.As for attaching to the lead bike, there is a "hitch receiver" that bolts onto the seatpost of the lead bike.The lead bike needs 2 inches of exposed seatpost in order to attach the hitch receiver.The WeeRide attaches to the hitch receiver exactly as would an automobile trailer hitch, except that the WeeRide comes with a quick release bolt for easy attachment/detachment to/from the lead bike.The hinge for folding the WeeRide is also secured by a quick release bolt.Those two quick releases are all you need to mess with when you want to go for a ride.Very simple!

The bike is *almost* too big for my 4.5 yr old daughter to ride.She was freaked out at first because, even with the seat all the way down, she can't touch the ground with her feet.And the hinged coupling between the seatpost "hitch" and the WeeRide frame has a little play in it, so it felt a bit wobbly to my daughter at first.But once she got used to the idea that she's firmly attached to Dad's bike, and Dad's bike doesn't tip over :) , she started to enjoy herself.More about fit:the crankarms on the WeeRide are pretty long, so I expect my kids to be able to enjoy it for as long as we want to.It will take a *very* long time for the kids to physically outgrow this bike.

A few thoughts about safety.First of all, the WeeRide does not have any braking capability.The copilot's choices are to pedal or to freewheel.This is good, since it ensures that the copilot can't lock up the back wheel.It seems like that might potentially cause problems (think jackknifed 18-wheelers).Second, the "pilot," or lead bicyclist, needs to avoid bumps as much as possible, and if not possible, the pilot needs to warn the copilot, just as on a tandem bike.The copilot can *not* see straight ahead when riding!Third, the pilot must avoid any sudden movements if possible.Don't stop too hard, accelerate too suddenly, or turn too quickly!It's very easy for the copilot to space out and relax a bit too much, since they don't have to do any work!Warn in advance before turning etc. if possible.

All that said, my 4.5 yr old daughter LOVES being a copilot!This half-bike allows my wife, my 7 year old son, my daughter and I to all go on rides together and explore a lot more than we could when my daughter was riding her little 16" bike with training wheels.Much more enjoyable for all this way!

Aosom Elite 2in1 Double Baby Bicycle Bike Trailer and Stroller - Blue Review

I've had this Elite for two days so far. Very easy to assemble there's even a youtube video of the assembly for the Version 1 which is not that different with the Elite. The difference is the brake location which I find it much easier to use since you don't have to remove the handle when changing from stroller to trailer. The brakes are more for emergency use or parking brake since it does eat up both the main wheels threads.
Max weight on this is 100lbs. I've used it with my 6 and 2 years old kids (+70lbs total). It's still roomy for them and there's two small pouch on each side they can fit a small toy. The center of balance is more to the back which can leave to a possibility of tipping but the handle does stop any possible injuries (of course that can only happen if you don't pay attention or don't have the brake on). The plus side, it's easier to tip back when aligning or turning during walking/jogging/running activities.
Taking it down for transport seems easy enough from the looks of it. There's be probably seven easy to take out pieces to breakdown, five if you reattach the wheel guards. Fits well in my large vehicle.
Storage wise, there's more than enough room in the back to keep the front wheel and 2(up to 4, maybe) gallons of water in the back compartment. I'll keep in touch as for the durabilty and longevity of this items. Overall I'm happy and satisfied with this items. PLUS I SAVED A TON OF CASH!

I purchased this from Amazon for $200 w/ shipping and everything. I wanted acargo trailer that would fold and that was rectangular. This is the only one that I found after a quick search. w/ free shipping it was hard to pass up.

All around it's a good folding design. It's similar in quality to a child's trailer. Some of the joints are plastic, while I wish they would be metal. I'm concerned it will wear out after a lot of use (how I plan to use it). If you don't need it to fold up, you might want to purchase a rigid all-metal trailer.

Purchased this trailer after reviewing tons of them on Amazon and Google.Like the other reviewer posted purchased and received the product fast.This was amazing especially since it was a week and a 1/2 before Christmas.The product was easy to install.Was able to get the seat adjusted for my daughters weight and she has plenty of room sitting in the center.There is room for some groceries or such in the back behind the seat.She has plenty of clearance in the seat with a helmet and plenty of room to grow.Ride your bike without anyone in it at first.This will help you to get used to the added weight behind you.Especially with braking and the distance you need.I ride far to the right so adding about another foot or two is going to take some getting used to.I would highly recommend this trailer.I looked at the 3 and 400 dollar trailers and honestly do not see where the price difference comes from.This is easy to pull and looking forward to a great time with my daughter.

For one child this is an excellent trailer. The size (length/width/weight) is just about perfect and the materials are durable and simple to clean. It is extremely easy to hitch/unhitch to your bike. It's also fairly good as a stroller (although, of course you have to pay extra for the stroller "kit"). I especially like the way the side plastic is tinted to protect from the sun and the ease with which you can zip up the front to shield your child from the elements in case of sudden rain. It folds up and loads in the trunk of a car well, without needing to remove the wheels.It even has decent cargo capacity for grocery bags, toys, snacks, etc. Overall, I highly recommend it.

Croozer 525 Double Child Bicycle Trailer (Red/Silver/Grey) Review

After doing significant research on bike trailers for children, I opted for Croozer Designs brand because it got great reviews from a few bike enthusiasts.The 525 model has separate seats for each child, as in separate "hammocks" on each side for each seat - many other brands of double trailers have a single "hammock" with two seat harnesses, resulting in both children eventually leaning in towards the middle and each other.The 525 seats remain separate and flat and a very comfortable ride even for taller children.
Assembly of the trailer was relatively easy, although I put the front bumper on upside-down the first time - beware.
There is a lot of storage space behind the seats.
The screen and rain cover included are sturdy, fit well, and store easily.
Installation of the trailer hitch on the bicycle is very easy, although I had to insert the screw in the opposite direction (as mentioned in the instruction manual might be required) which meant a little more work.
Attaching and detaching the trailer is a piece of cake too.
The only downside is finding vendors who sell the Croozer 525, but Amazon came through and had the best price.
Overall, I have been thrilled with my purchase!

I researched this purchase alot and I found the reviews to be helpful so I will add my insights.
I have many years of biking experience and am a former bike mechanic. I would have recomended this trailer to my old customers.
The trailer is well made. The welds are very good and the canopy fits tightly. You do need to adjust some straps to get it to fit spot-on but that's to be expected.
This trailer is light and easy to fold up and store as well as unfold and get ready. The process to go from folded to ready to roll is about 4 minutes. The trailer is self explanitory so you don't need to haul the directions around to get it set up.
The bike hook up is easy, however you need to balance the bike upright to do the hook up. Not a big deal and once the coupling is complete you can lay the bike down.
I have two kids who will use the trailer. They are a tight fit inside as I expected. They are comfortable; they have good leg room and a spot for each of them to have cups etc. There is ample room behind them for storage too. The saftey straps are a real bugger. They are not a fastex buckle as you would expect. They are a snap-hook and a "D" ring hook for the shoulder straps. This is ok going on and a pain getting off. Not horrid but really annoying.
The trailer tracks the bike very well. It does change the geometry of the bike though; so it will take some getting used to. The added weight really is a good workout. I have kept the speed down. I don't want to really be moving and need to do a quick manuver with it. You do need to be careful about clearance though. Keep in mind your footprint is three times larger than without the trailer.
I have been sticking to pavement for now. I want to get my daughters comfortable with it before I go to dirt roads. I will have to do some adjusting of the tire pressure for off road so they don't bounce to death.
Over all for the price you are getting more than your moneys worth. I will add to this review if I have an issue down the road.
************* Update 7/18/07. We have around 200 miles on the trailer. So far there have been two issues. The first is with the front wheel you use when using the trailer as a stroller. My wife used it twice and noticed one of the wheels was tilted.-The amazon picture shows one front wheel, there are actually two side-by-side- It ended up being more than tilted the axle was bent badly. I called InStep and they shipped a replacment out very quickly. I would really caution you not to load this up and use it as a stroller...the front wheel just can't handle it.
The second issue is a trivial one yet it is an area that a design change could be made. The floor of the trailer is fabric. When rolling your child needs to keep their feet on the front frame bar. If they do not they can push the fabric down so it rubs along the ground. My daughter did this for a short trip and one area is now very worn. It would not take long to get a hole. A plastic tray or a rub pad on the bottom could solve this. So far asking them to keep their feet on the bar has sufficed....just keep it in mind.
I would rate this as my best buy of the year and one I wish I done three years ago. I'll update this again if an issue crops up.

This trailer is a very good trailer for carrying groceries or other items that are too big to fit in a basket on the front of your bike.The reason I give this a 4 star rating is because when you are carrying a full load, it could shift poking out the sides and causing it to rub against the tires and putting a hole in the fabric.This is what happened to mine but it can be patched up.No big deal.Just keep a watch on this when hauling a load.Another thing, the trailer cover is not rainproof and if you are carrying anything that can't get wet, then you need to buy what I bought which is some water repellent spray which you can spray all over the top of it. I also put stuff in waterproof bags.These are the only 2 problems that I see with this trailer, other than that, its an excellent trailer and tracks very well.I have read other reviews here and like people say, you hardly notice the trailer behind you because it is very quiet when pulling.I've had alot of people stop me while riding and ask me about it.It also holds alot of weight which sold me onto this trailer in the first place.I would recommend this trailer to others.

InStep Quick N EZ Bicycle Trailer (Blue/Gray) Review

I am an avid cyclist who needed to maximize my time in the saddle by including my son on my rides. I searched all the brands from Wike on down to the Schwinn's and Insteps. I am a big believer in the right equipment for the job.

Value:
This trailer, although it may not last forever, should last a long time and is well worth the money spent; $[...]at Target. Especially compared to trailers at $[...]and up. Bottom line is how much do you bike, and how frequently will you use the trailer? I used it for the second half of last season (2004) and it still looks new and has little wear. I put approximately 1000 miles on it so far. On days where my son is not with me I load it up with approx. 65lbs of weight (50lb bag of charcoal and a case of Poland Spring water)and use it as a trainer.This weight approximates two small children and it holds up just fine.

Fun Factor;
My son loves going out on rides with me. It has a small pouch/cup holder sewn on each side of the interior, great for a sippy cup and a bag of snacks. It also has a trunk of sorts in the back. A flap that has snaps all around the perimeter of the rear, big enough to put an extra change of clothes and picnic things, or sand toys if you are visiting a playground on your journey.

Safety;
It comes with a basic small reflector on the bottom left of the rear. My opinion is this is not visible enough, get yourself a blinking reflector type light, approx. $10-15 in any bike shop.Mounting it may be a bit tricky, I cut the fabric at the bottom and clamped it on to the frame.It also comes with that neon orange flag, which can be spotted a mile away. And the base colors of blue and yellow stand out pretty good too. The harness,/hinge is a spring (with a safety cable through the center of the spring) that flexes, if you lay the bike down the trailer stays upright. The spring also flexes when you are riding to absorb some of the shifting of weight when your little guys move around back there, making it more comfortable than solid connections. Pros:
1) Price, $[...], you can't beat the price/value anywhere.
2) Quite, I'm used to a bike that makes no noise, and this did not let me down.
3) Bright colored fabric, help you to be seen, along with the neon orange flag.
4) Your own personal cheering team to "Go faster Daddy", and you really can't beat that!

Cons:
1) Floor is made from same fabric as the main compartment, this might be the first failure in the unit as my son gets bigger and heavier. Some more expensive models use a plastic tray as a base.
2) Needs a better light in the rear.
3) Once you get your child one of these , you will not be able to go for a solo ride anymore without dealing with tears and pleads to go "ridin" too.One very important recommendation, after you install your hardware and hook up the trailer, do yourself and your child a favor and put something heavier than your child in the back. Then ride it for a good long ride. Do a few panic stops, brake on corners, get used to the weight back there, it is very different than what you are used to without it. Don't learn while your little Man or Lady is back there.

Be safe and ride till your legs fall off.

Update 09/30/05

This past season 2005 I started riding with my two and a half year old daughter as well. It is a little tight at times. My son (4.5yrs) tends to elbow her in the face. Because the bottom is made out of fabric, they have a tendancy to fall into one another at the center(like an old mattress). This is not a problem when there is only one child of course, but two is a little uncomfortable. I have purchased the newer Instep with a plastic bottom to prevent this. I wont actually use it until next season; 2006, I will post on that when I have some experience with it.

If you only have one child, or two about the same size, this still gets high marks from me.

Also, the tubes in this do not hold air indefinitely. You do need to check on the PSI once in a while, you will roll much easier if you have the right air pressure, unless of course you want that workout.

For the money this is a good little trailer.Just got back after loading it down pretty good at the grocery store and it did exactly what it was designed to do.

Assembly was easy and the only tool needed is supplied, but herein lie the first 2 faults i find in it.The wheels attach to the axle with spring clips, which u spread with supplied pliers to put on the axle.I have always hated these things and if you ever attempt this, be careful and gentle when spreading those clips as they are easily messed up if you over do it.Everything else goes together with simple pins, which is problem 2, security is a nightmare.There no real way you can lock this thing up and secure it without someone being able to steal all or part of it.If your in a crime area i suggest you drill a hole in it to attach a cable and lock, or fashion something up.

It almost got dark before I got home and herein lies another thing I think needs addressing.Each wheel has 2 reflectors which is great, but there is nothing on the back and since it's black, the addition of a reflector or two or a strip of reflective cloth is definitely advisable.

The way the corners are constructed, small items can and will fall out.Hopefully I'll find my padlock on the side of the road next trip.

Also, as mentioned by a reviewer of the middle sized trailer from Aosum, the sides definitely do have a minor problem if things shift up against them.It can bulge the fabric so that the wheels rub against it which causes drag or worse, will wear a hole in it fast.Some cheap plastic stiffeners would have been a good addition.

Finally, the last caveat.The tires arrived deflated, which is a minor annoyance, but printed on the sides it said max load xxx lbs at 300 psi.People DON'T BELEIVE THIS!I don't know what they are thinking but definitely do not inflate over 30 lbs. I guarantee it will blow up in your face if you try that.

After all those negatives, don't despair, it is very easy to pull, hardly noticeable when empty, tracks like a dream, and will hold more than most should ever need to haul.I don't know or intend to find out if it can haul the rated 180 lbs, I don't even weigh that and am not eager for a heart attack.

Also, I saved a little over $25 by ordering direct from Aosum as they had free shipping when I ordered it, and they did ship immediately Fed Ex ground.No problems there.If you have a need for something like this, go for it.Well worth the money.Just don't throw small items like your padlock loose in it, add a reflector or something to the back, and watch the sides or find a way to stiffen them.The lack of reflectors and stiffeners is the only reason i give it 4 stars instead of a full 5.

It's been a couple months now since I bought this thing so I thought I'd add a note.The trailer is holding up well, it's a little dirtier now, but other than that it looks and works the same.Bought one of those Super flash blinky lights and mounted it to the back of it and it was a perfect fit with no mods necessary.

6 Months now, still very happy, but, had a flat. I was appalled when I got into this thing and saw the shoddy quality of the inner tubes used in this.The rubber is thin and soft and feels like it crumbly.No wonder I had a flat.Get you some new inner tubes in advance from a cheap source.Not going to downgrade the rating or anything over such a mild issue, just a little heads up.

Burley Honey Bee Bike Trailer Review

I did a lot of research into these trailers before making my purchase. I read plenty of reviews, checked it out at a local REI, and I even watched a video right here on Amazon from someone who really hated it, before making my decision. All I can say is, for the money, there is not a better trailer out there. Sure there are better trailers, but they all cost two to three times what this trailer cost - and many of them are heavier.

I put it through it's paces on a short 8-mile ride - sans kids - and found it rolled well and was extremely stable. I then decided to tempt fate and put my 2 year old in it for a short 20-mile river bike path ride. Loaded it up with her favorite stuffed animal, a couple books, a cooler of food, and diaper bag and hit the road. The added weight was noticeable but tolerable, riding in the saddle posed no noticeable problem with maneuverability. When standing for a short climb, I did feel a bit of a tug that limited my ability to really hammer - due to the limited rotational flex of the hitch, but again, tolerable and I quickly learned how to manage the limitations. And to be quite honest, I had to remind myself that this was a ride as much for my daughter as for me, and the added weight was greatly adding to my workout and speeding up hills simply wasn't necessary.

As far as the front flap is concerned, I put it down for the first half of the ride as it had recently rained and I did have to ride through a few puddles and minor mud patches. Nearly all of the debris and water ended up on my back like it always does; nary a drop of water was on the window of the trailer or up under onto the mesh door. So for the second half of the ride, I decided to roll up the outer door and just go with the mesh door. This posed no problems at all, and in fact I could hear my daughter playing inside as I rode, which made me very happy. She absolutely loved it!

So, are there things I didn't like about it? Not really, but there are a few things I noticed that could probably be done a little better. First, the brake is very solid and effective, but in my opinion, contacts the tires at a bad angle and puts a fair amount of torque stress on the rims and axles. It is hard to say how continued prolonged use of the brake could effect the trueness of the wheels, so my recommendation would be to use the brake sparingly and absolutely do not store the trailer with the brake engaged.
Second, the product literature states that you and your passengers should all wear helmets, so I went out and bought a cute pink Bell helmet for my daughter. She got used to it well enough, but the "helmet pocket" (the loose mesh wall above the seat) is a bit too tight and does not allow her to comfortably put her head back. It will probably be less of a problem as she gets a little taller, as her head barely reaches the top of the seat. She actually preferred to ride sitting forward with her feet on the front bar, so it was no big deal.
Lastly, as the video reviewer points out, the outer window door does appear to be a half to maybe an inch too narrow, although it is fully functional and DOES cover from side-to-side, it takes only a small amount of care to align both sides so they wrap around the corners. The air gap is present, but again, I do not share the video reviewer's concern that debris or water would be thrown up into this gap in any great amount. If I were at all concerned, I would simply have a Velcro strip sewn on to the lower edge of the outer door and onto the corresponding area on the inner door to seal the bottom.

All-in-all, this really is a great trailer for the money. It's sturdy, light weight and stable, and my daughter loved it!

Well designed light aluminum unit.Both sides are rigid and fold up from flat. A cross bar is attached to the back soft panel which attaches at the top to complete the frame.The cover has to be snapped on and offeach time to use it.Side windows are rigid. The jogging handle and wheels are then added without requiring any tools.It takes about two minutes to assemble.

The bike attach bar and front wheel attach bar fold under and easily swing out for either use.Once assembled, it rolls great, even on the beach(same results when tested with a 6 and 4 year old).Turning is a breeze since the kids are sitting on the rear axle and and have a low center of gravity.Storage will hold two backpacks, and is covered.Unit will keep kids and gear completely dry in rainy environments.The only issue we have is that the back of the seats is a panel running from the axle to the top cross brack and does not recline when the kid falls asleep.Finally it fits fine in the back of my Venture minivan (so long as I clean out all the books, coats, juice boxes, toys, and general accumulation of my wife's adventures with the kids.but that is getting off topic).

CoPilot Model A Double Bike Trailer Review

I have gotten so many complements on how cute this "buggy" is. The bike trailer is perfect for my kids (4 and 2) to ride in and they love it as well. Although they have to sit relatively close together it doesn't seem to bother them once we start riding. I did ALOT of research on ALOT of different trailers and I decided on this one because it looked more sturdy, has 20 in. wheels (for more ground clearance and smoother ride), has somewhat padded seats, and the seat is more substantial than some of the others in the same price range looked. It is also very easy switch it to a different bike because of the vice- like connector (verses the pin connector where there is a piece that has to remain attached to the bike even after the trailer has been removed). For the price I paid ($99.00- on sale, 50% off) I am very satisfied with what I got. I saw very little difference between this one and the ones that were very expensive.

Aosom Elite 2in1 Double Baby Bicycle Bike Trailer and Stroller Review

The description is not correct for the Elite version. The rear wheels are not "quick release". Instead there is a solid axle and caps on the ends to hold the wheels on. Which brings us to the next flaw. The trailer bar cannot be flipped under and locked into place because it hits the axle. The rear wheels are not aluminum as advertised. My 3 year old daughter is too tall because the seat support is in a bad position (not like this on the normal version) Because of this, the sides cannot be folded down when the top bar is folded. Instead the top bar must be removed completely (normal version does not have this problem). Once assembled it seems sturdy. I have not used it yet, and I'm not sure I will. The normal version does not have these problems. When converting from stroller to trailer, you will need tools to remove the brake cables. I will update this review when I have more information.
Update: I have talked to Aosom, and they have corrected some of the "typos". There will be design changes, but probably not until next years model.

THE GOOD: Set up is simple (even right out of the box), built quality is good on the frame, wheels are smooth, enough room for my 2 and 4 year old boys along with cargo space in the back. Average weight based on competitors, the covers since tight with straps (avoiding fabric flap in the wind). The trailer pulls well, I notice a little bit of push-pull when riding at slow speeds, but nothing that will bother anyone IMO. At speeds above 15mph (less than 20mph), the trailer handles just fine. The only time I really felt it is going uphill. The point of connection is well thought out and works with disc brakes.

THE BAD: Fabric material is not good. In fact, I think it will begin to rip in the near future (less than 1 year). I've owned this for a couple of months now, and am starting to see signs of wear in the foot area. Getting kids in/out means unsnapping half the canopy (no zippers). My major problem are the restraint straps. They are pretty bad, very thin and no padding. Both my kids get neck marks from the straps (chafing). I used automobile shoulder belt cushions to try and solve the problem, but the fit isn't quite there and they slide down, exposing the thin straps to their necks again.

I'm considering a Burley or Chariot to make the kids more comfortable. Also, I can get rid of our jogger and have a "Do-it-all" carrier.As for the InSTEP Take 2, you really do get what you pay for.However, if you're on a budget and want to take the kids for a spin, this will get you started.Good luck.
